Our Stories – Sophie Menjou
With garden centres now back open, we want to shine a light today on our wonderful Cultivation Street Ambassadors which are working all over the country helping communities and schools get into gardening. Giving them tips and advice on where to start, and representing Cultivation Street in an incredible way! One of these amazing Ambassadors is Sophie Menjou, who goes above and beyond everyday to help her local garden centre and community.
Sophie is passionate about helping out with community gardening projects and getting children engaged with nature—all of which she does outside of her customer service role.
When Sophie links with a brand-new school or community project she creates starter packs for them which include packets of seeds, gloves, information leaflets, and the cultivation street colouring pages. Sophie then makes regular visits to these organisations taking free products and materials and helping them out with plant knowledge and demonstrations.
She really enjoys working with organisations in the community, the schools are always so grateful for anything they receive and being outdoors really benefits everyone involved in these projects; whether it’s finding worms, digging, planting, or watching seedlings appear, it is all so exciting and so much learning happens whilst they are having fun and exploring.
When Sophie returns to organisations the kids are always so excited to tell her about what they have been planting in the garden, how they’ve grown and what they’ve been able to take home. From what they have learned together, they always seem to know exactly what they need to help the seeds or plants thrive.
